GMR Hyderabad to offer India’s first Station for Opticooler Containers

Hyderabad – GMR Hyderabad Air Cargo Strengthens Cold-Chain Offering with India’s first Station for Opticooler Containers. GMR is Partnering with DoKaSch Temperature Solutions of Germany to open India’s first and only Service Station for world-renowned Opticooler temperature-controlled air cargo containers. New station to enhance cold chain offerings at Hyderabad Airport for pharmaceuticals and other temperature sensitive shipments from across the region

GMR Hyderabad Air Cargo (GHAC), a division of GMR Air Cargo and Aerospace Engineering Limited has announced a new partnership with DoKaSch Temperature Solutions of Germany to launch a dedicated Service Station for Opticooler temperature-controlled air cargo containers, becoming the first and only Indian node on DoKaSch Temperature Solution’s global Service Station network.

With its dedicated pharma export terminal named ‘Pharma Zone’, the GHAC facility at Hyderabad is well established as the preferred hub for pharma exports in South Central India and positioning Opticooler containers at the Hyderabad network station gives the local pharmaceutical manufacturers, forwarders and airlines easy access to solutions for the global transport of high-value lifesaving medications. The timing of the launch of the new Station is also apt, given the critical role expected to be played by Hyderabad based vaccine manufacturers of COVID-19 vaccines in the ongoing global battle against the pandemic.

Pradeep Panicker, CEO-GMR Hyderabad International Airport commented, “Hyderabad Air Cargo terminal is the preferred gateway for pharmaceuticals and vaccine movements in the South Asia region and we are very pleased to partner with DoKaSch Temperature Solutions to establish a service station at our Cargo Terminal. The new facility will make the world class DoKaSch Opticooler containers readily and easily accessible to our shared customers who will be assured of ready availability and fast turnaround with our new on-airport container station. With the addition of this facility, GMR Hyderabad Air Cargo will be the biggest hub for temperature-controlled air cargo containers in the region.”

Andreas Seitz, Managing Director at DoKaSch Temperature Solutions, stresses the importance of the new station: “India is a highly relevant location for pharmaceuticals, biosimilars and biotech and especially Hyderabad is of outstanding importance. In turn, we decided to open our new service station for Opticooler to complement our extensive network and contribute to a capable cool chain for these products. Not only is the station located at a globally relevant industry hub, but the airport is also used by many of our partner airlines and is well connected to destinations worldwide. We are certain that our new location will play an important role for the global supply with lifesaving pharmaceutical products like vaccines, especially during the ongoing pandemic.” The new Service Station operated by GHAC on behalf of DoKaSch will be able to house up to 100 specialised, temperature-controlled Opticooler containers at a time and will serve as the primary regional hub for DoKaSch customers
