Owaisi scouts Rajasthan desert for green shoots

Jaipur – Asaduddin Owaisi the President of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is eyeing Rajasthan as the next destination for sowing seeds of his party. Owaisi visited Jaipur on Saturday and met few of the delegation coming from Makrana and Ajmer along with leaders from minority community in Jaipur.

Owaisi had already announced that his party AIMIM would fight election in Uttar Pradesh. AIMIM had successfully created tri angle fight at many places in Bihar earlier. Though, his sojourn in West Bengal had failed to attract minority voters against the might and craze of Mamta Banerjee.

Owaisi is generally accused of being B-team of BJP as his candidates divide minority votes against BJP. In Rajasthan, there has been surge in polarization in wake of national narrative of divide and hate rising amidst community. In such situation, Owaisi eying Rajasthan would certainly go to dent prospects of Congress in Rajasthan.

According to the data, there has been increase in votes for Popular Front of India (PFI) in certain areas of Rajasthan such as Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Kota and Tonk in recent times. Owaisi may be eying the trend to cut down the minority voters who are not much happy with the congress all across. In Jaipur, Owaisi stayed at a five star hotel and met a select delegation. He flew back to Hyderabad with in six hours but his presence has left a lasting impact on future course of muslim politics in Rajasthan. Muslim electorate in Rajasthan is considered to be around 12 percent and has sizable concentration in districts like Nagaur, Sikar, Bharatpur, Alwar and Jaisalmer.
